Sandi Headlining Maryport Blues Festival 2011

The first acts for the 2011 Maryport Blues Festival have been announced.

They include Scottish singer-songwriter Sandi Thom, who will headline the Saturday afternoon session.

A new committee has been formed to organise the three-day event at the end of July.

They are now in the middle of negotiations with possible performers.

Sandi Thom hit the big time in 2006 with her debut song I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker, which topped the charts in seven countries, and her album Smile . . . sold two million copies worldwide.

Her new album Merchants & Thieves was released in May, topping the UK iTunes blues chart and highlighting her passion for the blues.

Her latest single is a version of House of the Rising Sun.

Also lined up for the marquee at Netherhall Rugby Club are 2010 trail hits The Revolutionaires and Hokie Joint, as well as Hitman Blues Band, Henrik Freischlader, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Wildcards and Mike Sanchez.

More acts will be announced soon, and tickets will be on sale shortly.
