ST Track Inspiration: The Last Picture House In Town

I wrote this with my co writer in Nashville back in 2007. The inspiration behind this song was an old picturehouse that was due to be torn down in England. It had been there for literally decades and was now due to be ripped down and replaced by some boring, lifeless structure that couldnt hold a candle to this ornate, stunning, elegant, old and magical building that had played to host to some of the biggest stars this world has ever seen.

But this song is not not only just about a building, its about those days that would be lost and gone forever with this picturehouse. It was about the end of an era, the end of those hollywood legends - Corporatism, the destruction of individualism and uniqueness and the introduction of generic, ten a penny structures spreading like wildfire taking over the skyline.

I am a very nostalgic songwriter and I have loved and lost a lot in my life so I tend to write songs like this.
When I hear this song and sing this song my heart breaks, it is beautiful, it is in my opinion the best song I ever wrote.

The rolling thunderous Gong at the end is there to replicate those old movie endings!

Enjoy.
