Guitarist magazine have reviewed Sandi’s new album “Flesh and Blood” in their latest issue. Check out what they had to say about the record below:
Sandi Thom
Flesh and Blood
Scottish singer/guitarist’s gritty return impresses.
This follow-up to 2010′s impressive Merchants and Thieves was recorded in Nashville with Black Crowe Rich Robinson at the helm, and the hard-edged blues-rock you’d expect from such a union predominates.Thom’s rich voice is a versatile instrument, and handles the gospel inflections of Flesh and Blood as effortlessly as it does the emotionally charged country balladeering of Sun Comes Crashing Down.
The Clavinet-fuelled Stormy Weather (no, not a version of that song, thank god) channels Stevie Wonder, the showpiece acoustic duet with Buffy Sainte-Marie delivers its medicine with a spoonful of honey, and the record’s flourishes of tasteful yet forceful guitar emboss a fiery, emotionally charged set of songs.
Standout Track: Rise as One
