Aberdeen 'hip-pop’ duo Mark and Darren Scott, aka SHY and DRS, have teamed up with Scottish songstress Sandi Thom for a new collaboration that is storming up the charts.

Their new single The Love Is Gone features the rapping twins sampling Marillion's classic track Kayleigh, with Sandi providing the feminine touch with a stunning vocal.

The singers met when the twins were brainstorming for a female vocalist to guest on a song they’d written, with fellow north-east star Sandi top of the list.

SHY said: "We needed a female vocalist and Sandi was obviously our first choice!"

Sandi added: "They sent me the song and I thought it sounded great. I went and wrote a little lick to it and I think it turned out really good."

The song features SHY and DRS’s distinctive Aberdonian rapping, which Sandi says is a great addition to the track and ultimately helped the duo to join Sandi’s label Guardian Angel.

Sandi said: "We signed these guys to my label in the end and we’re all for promoting Scottish music. It’s great to have two rappers from the north-east of Scotland, it’s quite an interesting combination and it’s not the kind of thing you hear everyday."

The Love is Gone by SHY and DRS featuring Sandi Thom is out now, with duo’s album slated for release later in the year.
